About the Role

Siyalungisa Occupational Hygiene Services (Pty) Ltd is looking for an Occupational Hygiene Assistant to join our field team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting occupational hygiene surveys, workplace exposure monitoring and field data collection across various client sites under the guidance of Occupational Hygiene Technologists and Hygienists.

Key Responsibilities
*Conduct Occupational Hygiene surveys and workplace exposure monitoring.
*Perform personal and area sampling in accordance with approved methodologies.
*Set up, operate and care for Occupational Hygiene monitoring equipment.
*Conduct equipment pre- and post-calibration checks.
*Complete field sheets, sampling records and supporting documentation accurately.
*Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
*Capture monitoring data and assist with preparation of survey information.
*Conduct workplace observations and gather information required for Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments.
*Follow sampling strategies and instructions provided by the Technologist or Hygienist.
*Assist with preparation of Occupational Hygiene reports and supporting documentation.
*Maintain equipment, sampling media and field supplies.
*Comply with client health, safety and site requirements.
*Participate in training, competency assessments and continuous professional development.
*Communicate field progress, challenges and equipment issues to the relevant Team Leader.
*Travel to client sites and work shifts where operationally required.

Minimum Requirements
*Qualification in Occupational Hygiene or a related field.
*Registered with SAIOH as an Occupational Hygiene Assistant, or eligible for registration.
*Valid Legal Knowledge Certificate.
*Practical knowledge of Occupational Hygiene surveys and sampling methodologies.
*Familiarity with Occupational Hygiene monitoring equipment will be advantageous.
*Good written and verbal communication skills.
*Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
*Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
*Deadline driven and willing to learn.
*Valid driver's licence.
*Willingness to travel extensively and work shifts when required.
*Willingness to work from Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
*Graduates meeting the compulsory requirements may be considered.

Work Arrangement

Field-based – Middelburg, Mpumalanga, with regular travel to client sites as required.
